Is a short haircut better for thin hair?

I'm a fifteen-year-old girl with thin hair, and I'm getting a haircut tomorrow. I've been told that short hair is better for thin hair to make it thicker, but I don't know if a) short hair looks good and b) what measures should be taken to make sure I don't look like a boy?

Hi no a bob is good for thin hair as it make hair look thicker, but going to short and with layers just makes the hair thinner as layers are for thick hair to thin it out a little, my mum has thin hair and she was always told a bob is the only stlye to make hair look and feel thicker, especially if you turn it under too. You wont look like a boy but the style might no be in at the moment,
