Turning straight thin hair into wavy!!!?

I have needle straight and THIN hair. I've always tried to curl it and I always used A LOT of hair spray. But it just came out. Is there any way I can get my hair to look like this:

When you get out of the shower, towel dry your hair. Bend over and flip your hair over your head and apply some flexible hold mouse or gel, sure sure to use it sparingly or it will weigh your hair down. While you're still bent over scrunch your hair, make sure you get all the strands of your hair. Stand up straight, part your hair if it's a bit messed up, and continue to scrunch your hair. When you're happy with the look, spray a bit of flexible hairspray in your hands and flatten down any fly aways (be quick or it will dry on your hands and they will be sticky!). Set the look by misting your hair with flexible hold hairspray. Again, use sparingly or your hair will look hard and crispy.

I would recommend braiding your hair before you go to bed and taking it out in the morning. It actually stays longer than any curling iron I've tried, and it's more wavy than curly, too.

But before you curl it, put hairspray all over your hair.

And when your done curling put hairspray again.
