Layers for thin, flat hair?

I want to get layers for my hair to add some shape and volume to it since it's thin and flat. But the last time I asked for layers, my hairdresser said layers will make my hair look even more thin, but I also heard layers make thin hair look full and add more volume. What do you think? Should I get layers, or will it make my hair look even more thin? Is there another style that will look good on thin, flat hair that will give it a nice shape and add more volume to it? Thanks.

I wouldn't reccomend layers because your hair WILL look thinner if you get them This hairstyle, however, will give you body and lift without even having to get your hair cut.

THIS WILL GIVE YOU BODY AND VOLUME!

1.Wash your hair and condition.

2.Lightly towel dry your hair.

3.Blowdry your hair without touching your hair with your:fingers, blowdryer, brush etc.(it reduces natural curl u might have)

4.Apply a dollop of mouse to your hair All over.

5.Putt hot rollers in your hair starting at the top of your head! Use the entire set equally among your hair.

6.Let the hot rollers sit in your hair for 30 minutes.

7.Spritz with hairspray before you take them out.

8.Let HIarspray dry.

9.Take out rollers.

10.Turn your head face down and shake your head fiercely.

11.Enjoy!

I have thin fine straight hair too in the middle of my back and it is blonde but I have had layers and they do make my hair look thinner but it i was to curl it , it would look nice but i hardly never do that so I just leave it at one length....

long layers could make your hair look fuller, but they do get more volumous even on thick hair

whispy layers would definitely make your hair look

a lot thinnber, so only get wispy bangs

You can get a body wave-not a curly or kinky wave (permanent). It will swell your hair fiber and keep it from tending to stick close to your head %26amp; give you pumped up volume.

Anytime you want to remove a permanent wave-comb the solution thru your hair, the waving lotion 1st, for 5-10 minutes, then the neutralizer for 5 minutes (on top of Wave Lotion), do not rinse but use one on top of the other %26amp; when straight or as loose as you want, then shampoo %26amp; condition.

Layers will make your hair look thinner if its not styled.If you plan on curling and styling it everyday than it will benifit you .Its more work for and you will have more exposed ends .If you plan on styling it everyday and not having it really long than its a good choice .Otherwise I would leave it alone.If your really stuck on the idea than try really long layers first and if you dont like it it will grow out fast.If you do like it than you can go and do more.
